27 Miles, 5,000ft, and I Nearly Quit: The Tahoe Triple Crown!
I set out to complete one of the hardest mountain bike rides in California, the Tahoe Triple Crown in Lake Tahoe MTB terrain. This legendary Lake Tahoe mountain biking route links together some of the most iconic and technical trails in the region, including Christmas Valley Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail MTB section, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride downhill, Corral Trail, and Armstrong Connector.
This Lake Tahoe mountain bike epic ride covers nearly 30 miles of technical singletrack with over 5,000 feet of brutal climbing, making it one of the most demanding endurance MTB challenges in Northern California and the entire USA mountain biking scene.
What started as a fun Tahoe mountain biking adventure quickly turned into the hardest MTB ride I have ever done. Long fire road climbs, relentless elevation gain, altitude, fatigue, and full-body cramps pushed me deep into the pain cave. There were multiple moments where I genuinely thought I would have to quit this epic California mountain bike ride, but I kept pushing through.
